Two days of open-air music in Brussels
The Fête de la Musique is coming to the Parc du Cinquantenaire for two days of free concerts, entertainment and a good atmosphere in the open air. With its esplanade, its fountain, its large lawns and its museums, the Cinquantenaire became one of the great meeting places of the Fête de la Musique in Brussels.
On the program: free concerts, several musical styles, outdoor stages, food trucks, bars, entertainment for children, street arts, circus and a very family atmosphere. It is an ideal outing to enjoy the beginning of summer without organizing a complicated activity.
People come to listen to music, walk in the park, eat something on the spot, let the children enjoy the atmosphere and spend some time outside, in the heart of Brussels.
Why go with children?
Because the format is very simple with children. You can spend an hour on site or stay longer, depending on the age of the children, the weather and the energy of the moment.
The park makes it easy to get around, take breaks and get away from the crowds if needed. This is also what makes the event more accessible than a classical concert: you don’t have to sit still, silent, or follow the entire program from start to finish.
Saturday 20 June is particularly interesting for families, with an opening at the end of the morning and several proposals designed for children.
Don’t miss
Concerts on the esplanade
The heart of the event takes place on the Esplanade du Cinquantenaire, with two stages and a very varied musical programme. Friday evening is more focused on a rock and electro atmosphere, while Saturday starts earlier and allows you to enjoy the park during the day.
Activities for children
On Saturday, children’s activities are planned in the park: face painting workshop, balloon sculpture, creation of badges, customization of t-shirts and proposals for young audiences. That’s what makes it really interesting to go out with the family, even with children who wouldn’t necessarily last a whole concert.
Street arts and circus
In addition to music, the park also hosts circus animations and street art proposals. Perfect for capturing the attention of children between two concerts and keeping an outing alive, even if you don’t follow all the musical programming.
The Cinquantenaire Museums
The programme also takes place in several places around the park, including the Royal Army Museum, the Art & History Museum and the Pavilion of Human Passions. A good way to mix music, culture and discovery of the neighborhood.
The right time slot with children
For a truly family outing, the best time is on Saturday during the day, from 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. Children can enjoy the atmosphere, the entertainment and the park, without being on a late outing.
Friday evenings can be nice with teenagers, but it will be more suitable for families looking for a concert atmosphere at the end of the day.
