Our ideas for outings that really work

Dating teenagers is not always easy. They don’t necessarily want to go to the park anymore, quickly find museums “boring” and sometimes roll their eyes when we talk about cultural visits. However, we always want to share real moments with them.

The good news is that Brussels is particularly well suited to outings with pre-teens and teenagers. The city offers immersive experiences, team activities, street art, very visual museums, a large funfair and several festivals to discover throughout the summer.

Here is our selection of activities to go out in Brussels with teenagers, without giving them the impression of participating in an overly childish outing.

The Foire du Midi: the evening outing that always appeals to teenagers

With its thrilling rides, attractions, games of skill and gourmet stands, the Foire du Midi remains one of the major events of the summer in Brussels.

This is an outing that works particularly well with teenagers, as everyone can choose the attractions they like and enjoy the lively atmosphere of the funfair. You can spend a whole evening there or just come and have a few rides and something to eat on the spot.

The best time to go is usually at the end of the day, when the temperatures start to drop and the lights on the attractions come on.

Why does it work with teenagers?
Because there is movement, sensations, music and a real summer outing atmosphere.

À savoir

• From July 18 to August 23, 2026
• Boulevard du Midi, Brussels
• Open every day from 2 p.m.
• Until midnight on weekdays and 1 a.m. on weekends and the eve of public holidays
• Budget to be expected according to the number of attractions chosen

Summer Pleasures: Enjoying Brussels in a Different Way

During the summer, Plaisirs d’été takes over various venues in Brussels with concerts, dance, screenings, entertainment and several open-air events.

The program allows you to choose an outing according to the tastes and age of the teenagers, without necessarily planning a whole day. You can attend a concert, discover an unusual place or enjoy an entertainment before continuing the evening in the centre.

It is also a good way to discover Brussels in a different way, in a more relaxed atmosphere than during a traditional visit.

Why does it work with teenagers?
Because the formats are short, varied and often organized in a festive and relaxed atmosphere.

The Nomadic Theatres Festival: free shows in the Bois de la Cambre

For four days, the Nomadic Theatres Festival transforms the Bois de la Cambre into a real artistic village, with marquees, caravans and several open-air stages.

You can discover theatre, circus, music and street art shows in a particularly friendly atmosphere. You don’t have to stay all day: you can choose one or two shows, walk between the different stages and enjoy the park.

This is a good option with teenagers who enjoy festivals and live performances, but who don’t necessarily want to sit still for a long performance.

Why does it work with teenagers?
Because the atmosphere is more like that of a festival than a traditional theatre outing.

• August 13 to 16, 2026
• Bois de la Cambre
• Free admission
• Outdoor shows

The Brussels Games Festival: for game enthusiasts

The Brussels Games Festival returns at the end of August with three days dedicated to board games, role-playing games, cards, figurines and new products.

You can come and discover new games, test prototypes, meet authors and participate in different games. The event works particularly well with teenagers who like to play, think, strategize or discover new worlds.

It is also an easy outing to organize with a group of friends or a family of children of different ages.

Why does it work with teenagers?
Because they can play, choose their worlds and actively participate instead of just following a tour.
