Dating teenagers is not always easy. They don’t necessarily want to go to the park anymore, quickly find museums “boring” and sometimes roll their eyes when we talk about cultural visits. However, we always want to share real moments with them.

It is also a good way to discover Brussels in a different way, in a more relaxed atmosphere than during a traditional visit.

The Nomadic Theatres Festival: free shows in the Bois de la Cambre
For four days, the Nomadic Theatres Festival transforms the Bois de la Cambre into a real artistic village, with marquees, caravans and several open-air stages.
You can discover theatre, circus, music and street art shows in a particularly friendly atmosphere. You don’t have to stay all day: you can choose one or two shows, walk between the different stages and enjoy the park.
This is a good option with teenagers who enjoy festivals and live performances, but who don’t necessarily want to sit still for a long performance.

Because the atmosphere is more like that of a festival than a traditional theatre outing.

The Brussels Games Festival: for game enthusiasts
The Brussels Games Festival returns at the end of August with three days dedicated to board games, role-playing games, cards, figurines and new products.
You can come and discover new games, test prototypes, meet authors and participate in different games. The event works particularly well with teenagers who like to play, think, strategize or discover new worlds.
It is also an easy outing to organize with a group of friends or a family of children of different ages.

Cool museums with a pre-teen or a teenager
It’s not always easy to attract a teenager to a museum. And yet, several museums in Brussels are very suitable for young people, such as the Banksy Museum, the Comic Strip Museum or the Original and Instructive French Fries Museum.
With teenagers, you can try Challenge Lab, discover street art, visit the Atomium or the Comic Strip Museum, spend an evening at the Foire du Midi or enjoy the festivals and events organized during the summer.
When it rains, choose a covered activity such as Challenge lab, Harry Potter™: The Exhibition, the Atomium, the Comic Strip Museum or one of the immersive experiences offered in the “In the news” section.
The best free ideas with teenagers are street art, the comic strip trail, a walk in the centre, Brussels has its cinema in summer, some open-air concerts and free events such as Vaux Hall Summer.
