The Horizon of Cheops: a VR expedition in the heart of ancient Egypt

Put on a virtual reality headset and set off on a journey out of time: The Horizon of Khufu propels you back 4,500 years, to the time when the pyramids dominated the Giza plateau. The idea is simple (and ultra-effective): you physically wander around in a real space… while VR takes you inside the Great Pyramid, its “forbidden” corridors, and the mysterious Queen’s chamber.

Khufu in 6 points

  1. Travel back in time : total immersion in ancient Egypt, 4,500 years ago.
  2. Free movement : you actually walk during the experience (“expedition” format).
  3. “Open” Pyramid of Giza : Exploring usually inaccessible corridors and the Queen’s chamber.
  4. “Wow” moment : possibility to “meet” the goddess Bastet (mythology & mysteries atmosphere).
  5. Compact format : 45 min VR, but allow 1 hour in total (locker, equipment, briefing).
  6. Historical credibility: experience developed with Egyptologist Peter der Manuelian (Harvard).

Why we like it

  • A real alternative to “classic” museums: you live the story, you don’t read it.
  • The indoor format is easy to fit into a weekend.
  • Top plan “family and teenager”: it’s immersive, technological, and it speaks to everyone.

The team’s opinion

If your kids love Egypt, the pyramids, the Egyptian gods or VR: go for it.
We recommend especially from the age of 11 to be really comfortable (even if the minimum age is 8 years old). And good point: it’s an experience in small groups, so you quickly feel “in the adventure”.
