Genesis: the Sablon church as you’ve never seen it before
The Church of Notre-Dame du Sablon is transformed into a true work of art with Genesis, an immersive experience that mixes monumental projections, music and architecture.
For 30 minutes, the walls, vaults and ceiling of the church are illuminated thanks to a video mapping device designed especially for the place. The show tells the story of the birth of the world in seven scenes , through light, sky, water, nature, animals and then humans.
You remain seated throughout the performance and let yourself be completely enveloped by the images and the soundtrack. A short format, very visual and easy to share with children, even if they are not used to immersive shows.

Why it’s a good idea with kids
Genesis works especially well with the family because there’s nothing to read, no complicated explanations to follow, and no courses to complete. We sit down and the show begins.
The projections gradually fill the church and completely transform the place. The 30-minute format also prevents the experience from becoming too long for the children.
The experience is officially open to all ages. However, Eonarium recommends not to come with children under 3 years old, especially because the show takes place in peace and music is played throughout the church.
Sessions with live music
This is the version you would choose to live the experience to the fullest.
From September 12 to 20, 2026, Genesis offers a session every evening at 8 p.m. accompanied by live musicians. From September 25, live screenings are then offered on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.
Live music accompanies the screenings and brings the duration of the experience to about 45 minutes.
The team’s opinion
The choice of location is really part of the experience. The Church of Notre-Dame du Sablon is one of the most remarkable Gothic buildings in Brussels, with its high vaults and stained glass windows.
Video mapping directly follows the shapes of the architecture: the projections are therefore not simply broadcast on a screen, they use the walls, arches and volumes of the church to build the show.
It is also a good opportunity to rediscover the Sablon district with the children and to extend the outing with a walk in the centre of Brussels.

- AGE: open to all ages. The organizer nevertheless recommends avoiding children under 3 years old.

- PLACEMENT: the show is watched seated. Chairs are available for ticket holders and some categories allow you to enjoy the experience in an ottoman.

- ACCESSIBILITY: the experience is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Just in front of the Notre-Dame du Sablon church, the Square du Petit Sablon is perfect for taking a short break after Genesis. This pretty garden surrounded by statues allows you to let the children breathe for a few minutes while enjoying one of the most charming corners of the district. A simple and free stop before continuing the walk.
THE PLACE DU GRAND SABLON:
A few minutes’ walk away, the Place du Grand Sablon is a must to extend the outing. People come here for the atmosphere of the neighborhood, the beautiful facades, the shops and especially the many gourmet addresses. A good option to plan a snack with the children after the show.
THE MONT DES ARTS:
In about ten minutes on foot, you can reach the Mont des Arts and enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Brussels. The gardens, stairs and panorama make it an easy walk to take with the family, especially at the end of the day when the light on the city centre is particularly pretty.
