Pompeii: an immersive journey
Immerse yourself in Pompeii the day before the eruption: 360° projections, enveloping sounds, interactive spaces, “metaverse” area, virtual reality and reconstructed sets.
Explore the ancient city, walk through the Villa of the Mysteries, watch re-enacted gladiatorial fights and experience the spectacular finale of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.
Pompeii in 6 points
- Spectacular volcanic finale : relive the eruption of Vesuvius in an enveloping sequence, visual and sound, which closes the tour in apotheosis.
- Gladiators in VR : a virtual reality experience (mostly from 5 years old) to sit in the arena and feel the adrenaline of combat.
- Villa of Mysteries in the metaverse : freely explore the reconstructed rooms and frescoes thanks to an interactive space designed for exploration.
- Objects & reconstructions : sets, casts and documents bring the daily life of the Pompeians back to life and shed light on the historical context.
- Suitable for all ages & practical route : FR/NL (EN/DE supplements), wheelchair accessible, photos allowed (without tripod), average duration 60–90 min.
We love it!
- The great immersive show that tells the last hours of Pompeii.
- VR to experience the arena as if you were there (rather from 5 years old).
- The metaverse to walk freely in the Villa of Mysteries.
- Objects and reconstructions that anchor history in reality.
- The location at Brussels Expo – Terminal 1, perfect to combine with the Atomium and Mini-Europe.
The team’s opinion
A “large format” exhibition that combines emotion and pedagogy. The projections and the soundtrack create a real moment of cinema; VR and moves history from book to experience.
An excellent choice for a family/teen outing.

Just a stone’s throw from Brussels Expo, you will also like…
ATOMIUM:
Extend the experience with a futuristic icon from 1958. Between spectacular architecture, glittering tubes and a 360° panorama of Brussels, the Atomium offers a striking counterpoint to the antiquity of Pompeii: the look to the future, after a journey into the past.
MINI-EUROPE:
A stone’s throw from the Atomium, a fun and lively park to discover Europe in a scale model. Great with kids: trains, miniature volcanoes, and famous landmarks… A light way to “travel” after the intensity of Vesuvius.
BRUSSELS PLANETARIUM:
Under the large dome, head for the stars in the planetarium. Immersive projections and cosmic narratives place Pompeii on another scale: that of time and the forces of nature. A soothing and contemplative interlude.
