A short film festival with a real family component
From April 22 to May 2, 2026

From 22 April to 2 May 2026, the Brussels Short Film Festival returns to Brussels for its 29th edition. For eleven days, the festival offers a wide range of Belgian and international short films in several Brussels venues.

The event is not only for adult film lovers. The festival also includes a real youth component, with family screenings, school screenings, a youth jury and several activities designed for young audiences. This is what makes the BSFF interesting for a family outing: the short format is more rhythmic, more varied and often easier to share with children than a classic long session.

Another strong point: the festival takes over several places that are easy to integrate into a day in Brussels, including Flagey, the Cinéma Vendôme, the Cinéma Galeries, the Mont des Arts and the Chapiteau Place Sainte-Croix. The Open Air screenings at the Mont des Arts are free, which also allows you to enjoy the atmosphere of the festival without necessarily booking a session in the theatre.

The Brussels Short Film Festival is a good idea if you are looking for a cultural outing that changes a little, with a real cinema programme, but in a more flexible and accessible format for an outing with children or older children.

At the Mont des Arts : free Open Air screenings as part of the festival.

For families:

  • A family session, from 3 years old
  • a Youth +7 selection
  • several activities of the Youth component.
