Brussels with a baby or toddler (0–3 years old), it’s quite possible… and even very pleasant 💛

A capital city with a soft size, it is easy to travel with a stroller: short distances, simple transport, many parks, museums that are easy to cut short and lots of “general public” activities where baby can follow without constraint.

On this page, we have gathered our best ideas for outings with a baby :

  • activities to book (panoramic bus, Ferris wheel, turnkey day 0–6 years old, etc.),
  • stroller rides in parks and pleasant neighborhoods,
  • and ideas indoors when it’s too cold, too hot or raining.

🌳 Stroller walks & large parks

With a baby, stroller rides are often the basis of the stay. Good news: Brussels is full of parks and green corners perfect for that.

Some easy ideas:

  • Parc du Cinquantenaire – Large alleys, lawns, benches in the shade, monumental arch… Perfect for a stroller walk, a bottle on a bench, a nap while walking in peace.
  • Brussels Park (between the Royal Palace and the Parliament)
Very central, convenient between city tours. We take a few laps with the stroller, we stop at the benches, we let the older ones run.
  • Bois de la Cambre – A real “green lung”: long paths, lake, island, wilder areas…
Ideal if you need to really disconnect between two times in the city.
  • Ixelles ponds, Tenbosch park, neighbourhood parks – Smaller parks, very pleasant with a toddler: less crowded, more quiet, perfect for a stroller ride followed by a coffee or a waffle.

Convenient places with baby

  • Covered galleries & passageways (e.g. the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert) –
Protected from the rain, perfect for walking in the dry with a stroller, looking at the shop windows and taking a chocolate break.
  • Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula & Churches – Quiet places (except during busy times), where you can admire the stained glass windows,
Let baby look at the lights and play with the light/dark contrast.

☕ Small gourmet breaks with baby

Going out with a baby also means a lot of breaks. Brussels is rather baby-friendly when it comes to delicacies:

  • Fries & Waffles – Perfect for a parent while baby sleeps in the stroller;
For older children (2–3 years old), we share a small fries or a plain waffle.
  • Cafes / tea rooms – Many Brussels cafes accept strollers without any problem, and let you out/in easily for a changing/bottle break.
  • Markets (Flagey, Châtelain, Midi…) – A simple stroller ride in the middle of the stalls, smells, colors, street musicians… gentle stimulation for baby, pleasure for parents.
